Investigation of Piezomagnetism in Nickel Ferrite

Applications of magnetostrictive materials, such as sensors and energy-harvesting devices, generally involve the use dynamic deformation, i.e., piezomagnetic effect, induced by an exciting magnetic field H ac . However, this effect is rarely measured directly but commonly approximated strain derivative ∂λ/∂H, which deduced from quasi-static curve. In article, we propose investigation in nickel ferrite measuring magnetostriction under various fields using a strain-gauge setup. These values are compared with order to disclose limitations thereof. addition, magnetoelectric ferrite/PZT bilayer calculated coefficient based on analytical model. When coefficients integrated into calculation, good accuracy found experimental values, whereas it not case for derivatives. The findings present study highlight importance accurately characterizing materials optimize their performances applications.
